Our class had the most Cougar Bucks for the month of March for great behavior in the cafeteria at lunch time for all of 2nd grade. Today, we got our prize...MINECRAFT BOWLING!!!
We got glowsticks and got to bowl in the dark with a disco ball and Minecraft videos on! We all had so much fun bowling and dancing!
Our next goal is to win again and the class who wins the most will get an even cooler prize! We are going to try our best to win it!
Monday, April 13th, is our field trip to the River Walk. We will leave school at 8:45 a.m. and arrive back at school around 2:00 p.m. Please make sure that your child dresses comfortably and wears tennis shoes (no flip flops). Students are to wear a Brauchle T-shirt or blue shirt. To avoid sunburns, it is advised that your child put on sunscreen lotion before coming to school.
Please remember to send your child with a sack lunch and a drink. Students will be carrying their own lunch in their backpack. We will be eating at the Arneson River Theatre around 11 a.m. Parents wishing to attend may meet us at the theatre. We will not be visiting any gift shops downtown or at the Alamo. Students do not need to bring money on the field trip, and we ask that parents do not purchase items or food for the students. Any parents wishing to attend the field trip must provide their own transportation and lunch.
***Rain is forecast for Monday.
A cancellation will be determined Monday morning pending on the weather.
Can't wait!! :)
Most parents understand that ample sleep is important for keeping kids focused and ready to learn in school. But according to the American Psychological Association sleep is also a factor in the ability to remember what has been learned throughout the day. Because children are acquiring more new knowledge and skills than adults on a daily basis, it’s even more essential that they get the proper amount of sleep each night. Insufficient sleep can also have a negative impact on the immune system, which can lead to sickness and absences from school.
To combat common illnesses such as the cold, “make sure your little one gets enough sleep, has a healthy diet, and learns to sneeze and cough in his sleeve to prevent spreading infection,” Atlanta pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Shu told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
So what can parents do to make sure their kids are getting proper rest?
According to Houston pediatrician Dr. Kemba Baker, "Parents can help put their kids on the right track for sufficient sleep by setting an early bedtime, winding down high-energy and high-stimulation activities like exercise and video games at least an hour before that bedtime, creating a calming nightly routine, cutting out caffeine, and making sure the bed is used for sleep only." It is recommended that parents aim for 10-11 hours per night for kids 7-12 years old, and 8-9 hours per night for teens from 13-18.
This is the last week for Student Council's food drive! Brauchle Student Council & Community Starts with Me Club are collecting nonperishable food for the Christus VNA Hospice and Palliative Care-San Antonio’s Holiday Food Basket Program. Baskets will be packed with all items to create a holiday meal for their families. Please consider donating 1 or 2 cans. Donations may be placed in the tubs located in the foyer of school
So far, they don't have nearly as many donations as last year. Student Council set a goal of 17 complete baskets (we were able to make 15 last year) and they need your help!
For every item brought in this week, our class will earn one minute of extra recess!

Tomorrow, I will be sending home a paper with instructions on how to register for our class's Class Messenger. Class Messenger is a private messaging service that keeps teachers, parents, and students in sync. It's like if you took all the good parts of Twitter, texting, email, blogging, newsletters, Survey Monkey and Instagram and rolled it all into one application specifically for education. It's available where ever you are on a mobile device, tablet, or computer. Class Messenger uses push notifications, a web app, email, and text messaging so every single person can use it effortlessly.
It will make communication easier and better. Messages are easy to send and most importantly, it makes it almost impossible to have them get missed on either end.
Newsletters, emails, and our class blog will continue to be sent but this will make it easier for me to send reminders, share class pictures, ask for parent volunteers, or just send individual and private messages concerning your child. It will be like texting me directly when and if you ever need to, any time of the day.
Click on the link below to watch a video discussing how Class Messenger works more.
Here is also the website that you look at to learn more information! https://www.classmessenger.com/
Please make sure when registering, that you provide a mobile (cell) phone number for the service.
We had such a FUN time at the Seussical Musical today performed by the Holmes High School fine arts department! We got to see all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters like Cat in a Hat, Horton, the Grinch, and many more! Afterwards, the kiddos got signed pictures of the cast and even got to meet some of the performers. We had a great time!!
